After Mocoa’s avalanche, on 31 March, 326 people died (0.86% of population), of which 120 were children, 79 are still missing and 16,919 are victims (45% of population). Mercy Corps will work for Mocoa to return to a some kind of normality. Our goal is to #ReconstruirMocoa (Rebuild Mocoa) through 2 main axes: Humanitarian Aid and Psychosocial Support.

The objectives we will focus on are:

  • Meet the drinking water needs of 500 families.
  • Deliver emergency humanitarian assistance to 335 families through unconditional money transfers to cover their losses during floods (approximately 1,340 direct beneficiaries)
  • Deliver 1,000 school kits
  • Provide psychosocial support to 240 beneficiaries to assess immediate mental health needs and provide them with the means / tools to handle natural disaster-related trauma. These beneficiaries will be divided as follows: 150 girls and boys, 150 adults (parents) and 20 teachers of the education system.
  • Carry out psychosocial support activities with a special focus on girls protection, boys, adolescents and women in shelters (GBV).
  • Deliver 240 hygiene kits for young people
  • Continue to actively support and participate in clusters and other links with NGOs
